Back in the Pony Express days, the mochila was the leather saddlebag passed from rider to rider, horse to horse, mile after mile — carrying news, letters, and the latest word from across the country.
We liked that energy and the connection to the buckle. So we borrowed the name.
Ride-Walk-Run-Skateboard…whatever takes your fancy. This year’s Virtual Event kicks off on Thursday, April 23rd – and will run for 100 days until the actual Tevis Cup ends on Sunday, August 2nd, 2026. Entries to the Virtual Event will open in early April. Watch for announcements.

Tevis Ride entry opened on February 1st.
Tevis Virtual Event entries opened on March 15th.
Tevis Educational Ride entries opened on April 1st.
Entries now open! This year’s Virtual Event starts on Wednesday, April 19th – and will run for 100 days until Sunday, July 30th, 2023* – as the riders of the Traditional Tevis Cup are finishing their own physical journeys** under the Tevis Moon!

Entries for the Virtual Trail 2023 are expected to open in March. This year’s event will begin April 19th, allowing entrants 100 days to complete the distance – finishing up under the same moon as the date of the actual Tevis Cup Ride on July 29th.
