Years ago during the early years of the Western States Trail Ride, a lady began to complain about the arduous conditions that she found along the trail.

"It's so dusty," she began, "and there are so many rocks and it's so hot and the trails are steep."

At which point, Marvin Jacinto, one of Wendell Robie's most reliable men who assisted in the production of the Ride, piped up and said,

"Ma'am, this ride ain't for snivelers!"
