Trail Work Days
Western States Trail Users and Tevis Fans: we need your help with boots on the ground volunteering for 2025 trail work dates. This is a fun way to see the trail on foot and get yourself in shape!
We need equestrians desperately to help do trail work. Please sign up for a trail work date.
Trail Work Opportunities in 2024
WST Stewardship has organized work days throughout this year. Please go to this link to sign up.
Trailwork Update – March
The trail between the Patent Road Fire Break (westward extent of the fire) and Dardanelles Creek is now clear and in good shape.
Find out more about what got done – and come join us in the canyons in April and May.
March 5th Trail Work Day Cancelled
Due to large amounts of snow, the upcoming trail work day has been regretfully cancelled. At this point, the March 11th/12th days are also in question because the weather pattern looks like it will last another week or so. Please check the website closer to the event.
Trail Work Days – New Dates
Western States Trail Stewardship has announced five days in March and April to do dirt and rock work on the trail after the Mosquito Fire. This work will be done on either CA Loop (west of Foresthill) or in El Dorado Canyon (east of Michigan Bluff).
Current Trail Reconditioning Status
We are confident the Ride will happen this year!
Although the USFS has officially closed the Mosquito Fire area through the end of 2023, they have been strong partners in getting the necessary work done to ensure that the trail is ready for both the Western States Run and the Tevis Cup in 2023.
Trailwork Update
The trail teams were able to get some great work done before the weather turned. They have been hard at work in El Dorado Canyon, as well as on the California Street section. Volunteer work has been postponed until the weather improves, but please consider signing up to help out once things dry out.
Trail Update – June 20, 2022
The entire Trail has been logged and verified clear as of June 15 from start to finish.
Please note a wash-out approx. 1/4 mile prior to Kaput Springs on the trail from Deadwood and use extreme caution.
